Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Serge Vilvar, who serves patients in Delray Beach, Florida.

Dr. Vilvar is a board-certified psychiatrist providing excellent outpatient behavioral health care at Comprehensive Psychiatry & Psychology Group, PA in Delray Beach, Florida.

His areas of expertise include addictions, ADHD, anxiety/stress, eating disorders, elderly concerns and mental disorders, mood disorders, OCD/panic attacks/phobia, and schizophrenia, among others.

Comprehensive Psychiatry & Psychology Group, PA offers a range of psychiatric services and psychological assessments and treatments for adults, adolescents 18+, and the elderly. Psychiatrists at Comprehensive PPG are trained in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. They not only provide the counseling necessary to both diagnose and treat a patient, but also prescribe medication when needed. In some cases, the medication and the counseling will be provided by another healthcare specialist, like a certified counselor or psychologist.

His acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy at the University of Haiti in 1984. He then went on to perform his residency in psychiatry at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in 1996, and his residency in family medicine at Rutgers Health/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at CentraState in 1999.

Offering the expertise and support each patient needs, Dr. Vilvar is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

Furthermore, he is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

In order to increase community awareness about the impact of mental health disorders in Northeast Florida, Dr. Vilvar is involved in several local, social and spiritual organizations. He is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Association of Addiction Medicine.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.
