Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Jewell Brent Duncan, who serves patients in Augusta, Georgia.

Dr. Duncan is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with extensive experience in sports medicine and reconstructive surgery, arthroscopic surgery, general orthopedics, total joint replacement, and fracture treatment. He is in practice with Champion Orthopedics in Augusta, Georgia.

From sports medicine to total joint replacement, Champion Orthopedics is a full service,  orthopedic specialty clinic, with one of the highest trained physician teams in the CSRA. It employs a dedicated staff of over 50 members to take the best care of patients. 

Whether a patient has experienced an injury, is in need of relief from pain or loss of function, or they simply want to perform at a higher level athletically, Champion Orthopedics provides advanced medical care with minimally invasive treatment options and accelerated rehabilitation. 

A 1986 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Duncan went on to complete his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the same educational venue. This was followed by a fellowship in sports medicine at Rocky Mountain Sports Medicine in Aspen, and Denver, Colorado in 1992.

Professionally, Dr. Duncan is affiliated with several hospitals and medical centers in his local area, including Doctors Hospital of Augusta, Emory University Hospital, University Hospital Summerville, Evans Surgery Center, Trinity Hospital of Augusta, University Hospital, and Augusta University Medical Center.

Recognized as one of The Best Doctors of America, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Among his associations and community involvement, he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery; a member of the Richmond County Medical Society; on the Board of Directors of the Augusta Sports Council; the Medical Director of the Nike National Basketball Tournament; the Team Physician for Professional, College, and High School Athletic Programs; the Medical Director for the Georgia Games East District Sports Festival; and the Creator and former Director of the MCG Center for Sports Medicine.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system.
