  • Are all hospitalists internists?

Not all hospitalists are internists. This depends on what hospital you are at and their requirements. Practicing community physicians may have agreement/rights to see patients in the hospitals as well. It all depends on the hospital you will be attending. I hope this helps. Good luck with your stay. Areas of research

Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. Dr. Bessett developed a protocol for the newborn nursery/inpatient for observation and treatment of infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome. The protocol was developed to provide better education to employees on how to recognize the symptoms, treat the patient appropriately, and how to wean off therapy when indicated. The goal is to capture the symptomatic infants sooner and to wean them off medications safely, all while shortening their length of stay. Research will begin later this year.
