In 1991, he earned his medical degree from Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. He then did a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery in California under the auspices of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
