Dr. Schilling is a practicing, board-certified general surgeon, who specializes in minimally invasive robotic surgery techniques. He uses the DaVinci surgical robot to perform most of his minimally invasive surgeries, including gallbladder removal, management of diverticulitis, anti-reflux surgery, hernia repair, as well as diseases of the stomach, small intestine, and colon, including cancer.

The doctor practices at The Christ Hospital, a 555-bed, not-for-profit acute care facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, offering services in cardiovascular care, spine treatment, women’s health, major surgery, cancer, behavioral medicine, orthopaedics, emergency care, kidney transplant, and others. Before joining The Christ Hospital, he had been practicing at Carolinas Hospital System in South Carolina, where he was also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery affiliated with the University of South Carolina.

A native of Cincinnati, Dr. Schilling graduated from Archbishop McNicholas High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Microbiology from Miami University and then graduated with his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his surgical residency at Good Samaritan Hospital. 

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
