Get to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Jennifer S. Engle, who serves patients in Troy, Michigan.

Dr. Engle is a fellowship-trained vascular surgeon and a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT). She treats varicose and spider vein problems at Somerset Venous Center in Troy, Michigan, helping patients improve their appearance and ease their discomfort.

In practice for over three decades, she is affiliated with Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak.

Academically, Dr. Engle obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at Michigan State University, and her medical degree at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. She completed her general surgery training at Sinai Hospital in Detroit and at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. From there, she went on to complete her fellowship in vascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas under the direction of Michael E. DeBakey, MD.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels. These specialists treat a range of health problems, from spider and varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms, and can help patients manage chronic conditions throughout their lives.

Among Dr. Engle’s most notable achievements include On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2016, 2018) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016).
