He then went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at The Jewish Hospital in 1973, followed by a residency in psychiatry at Renard Hospital in 1976.

Holding over five decades of experience, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry and neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation that was founded in 1934 following conferences of committees appointed by the American Psychiatric Association, the American Neurological Association, and the then “Section on Nervous and Mental Diseases” of the American Medical Association.
