Dr. Arevalo-Sosa is a board-certified family physician who is affiliated with HealthTexas Medical Group – Leon Valley Clinic in Leon Valley, Texas. HealthTexas Medical Group was established in 1994 by local physicians who recognized the need for primary care doctors to combine their passion, skill, and resources to treat and improve a patient’s overall health and wellness. Since then, HealthTexas has grown to include more than 60 healthcare providers in 16 primary care clinics in and around the San Antonio region. Holding true to the original core purpose, “To Improve the Health of the Communities We Serve,” HealthTexas is the premier primary care physician practice.

Dr. Arevalo-Sosa has established a strong reputation of being an extremely compassionate physician. He strives to establish and maintain a high level of trust in each physician/patient relationship and feels it is truly an honor to be responsible for the health and overall wellness of another human being.

Dr. Arevalo-Sosa earned his medical degree from the Evangelical University of El Salvador – Faculty of Medicine in San Salvador, El Salvador. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his residency in family and community medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Arevalo-Sosa is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, and the Bexar County Medical Society. Dr. Arevalo-Sosa is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Family medicine, formerly family practice, is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages; the specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician, like Dr. Arevalo-Sosa, is often the first person whom a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.

Dr. Arevalo-Sosa’s favorite professional publications are the Journal of the American Medical Association and the Journal of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is fluent in both English and Spanish. In his spare time, Dr. Arevalo-Sosa enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and four dogs. He also enjoys going to the movies, going to the gym, driving, and mountain biking.
