Acupuncture causing insomnia?
It’s difficult to figure out considering I don’t know the practitioner’s protocol. But it sounds like your yin energy (Qi) may not be so contained - yin will hold the yang (day) qi in at night. Also, your gallbladder/liver Qi may need to be addressed, especially if you wake around 12-4am. A combination of acupuncture & herbal supplements may be the best approach. Everyone experiences acupuncture differently, so it may take around 5-8 visits before your treatments are very noticeable. Please contact your practitioner and let him know the goals you aim to achieve with the treatments. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
Can acupuncture help with thyroid problems?
I have used acupuncture and herbal supplements to help resolve thyroid issues. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), we view this issue as an imbalance in energy and hormones. That’s why with mainstream medical treatment, after they prescribe thyroid medication, the patient usually reverses and will need the opposite medication after. Check with your primary to make sure you’re a good candidate for alternative therapy. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
Is Acupuncture good for stomach problems?
I have treated many patients with stomach/gastric issues successfully. Not all were helped with acupuncture only, but a combination of acupuncture and herbal supplements seemed to be very effective. Check with your primary to make sure you’re a good candidate for alternative medicine. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
Does acupuncture work on arthritis?
There are acupuncture treatments for arthritis that may incorporate herbal supplements or topicals. However, it will not reverse the condition, but can help prevent further progression. Ask your primary if acupuncture would be a likely alternative option for you. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
How many sessions of acupuncture do you need for knee pain?
The number of sessions to treat your knee pain will depend on how chronic your condition is. Generally speaking, knee pain from sprain/strain may be resolved after 3-5 acupuncture treatments. Whereas an ACL/MCL treatment may require 8-10 acupuncture treatments. Ask your primary if acupuncture would be a good alternative therapy and check with the practitioner after he examines the knee to get a better idea for the prognosis. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
Neuromyelytis Victim, Continuous Muscle Contractions [20 or more per hour]?
I’m very sorry to hear. Acupuncture has been proven with research to ease pain and anxiety. In surgery centers they sometimes use acupuncture as the anesthesia by manipulating the needles to ‘drain the energy.’ This may be the type of alternative medicine you may be seeking for your wife. There are also herbal supplements to address the spasming/contraction pains. But a practitioner should correctly diagnosis according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and suggest the correct treatment. Best of luck! Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
How far do acupuncture needles go in?
The depth of the needles depends on the condition being treated. Generally speaking, for deficient cases the patient usually prefers the needle and treatments may go deeper, roughly about one inch deep. Other cases may prefer shallower treatments like where organs are easily located on the body. But always check with your primary to see if you are suitable for alternative therapy by a licensed practitioner of acupuncture! Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
How long does it take for acupuncture to work for insomnia?
Merry Christmas! Acupuncture can vary based on the individual’s response to acupuncture and its effects. Usually, there is an immediate response that may last a few days for the week. The effects also depend on how chronic the condition is, but generally speaking, insomnia can be resolved after a few treatments, most likely with herbal supplementation. READ MORE
Can acupuncture help with seasonal allergies?
Very much so! We use acupuncture to treat the client for seasonal allergies; actually as a preventative for the coming seasonal allergies. But I have treated plenty of patients for seasonal allergies, especially truck drivers, as they pass through various fields/pollenated areas. Always check with your primary to see if you would be a good candidate for alternative therapies. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
How effective is acupuncture for neck spasms?
Neck spasms may be due to several conditions. I have used acupuncture to effectively help relieve neck pain, stiffness and tension/spasms for my patients. For chronic conditions, treatments may need to be more frequent and numerous. Some conditions like dehydration may be easier to treat with herbal supplementation. Please check with your primary to see if you may be a suitable candidate for alternative therapy. READ MORE
Can acupuncture help fertility?
So far, studies show acupuncture has about a 67% increased chance of viable fertilization. I and some personal colleagues of mine have had success with treating our patients to become pregnant, whether IVF therapy was involved or not. Check with your primary and OB/GYN to see if acupuncture would be a great consideration. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
How far do acupuncture needles go in?
There are over 360 acupuncture points on the body. Each point has its own depth and angle to approach. We especially want to avoid puncturing major arteries or vital organs. Some points are as shallow as 0.01 cm and can range as far as 3-5 inches in depth. Usually, cases of sciatica or pregnancy will depend on those deep penetrations. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
How many acupuncture treatments are needed for sciatica?
I’ve treated sciatica patients who have had the condition for years or for days. And they all found relief within the reasonable relativity of their condition. Generally, the more chronic the condition is, the more frequent the treatment should be. Even then each patient responds to treatments individually so the prognosis really depends on the practitioner’s exam. Again, generally speaking I have found sciatica easily treated within 3-5 treatments with my combined techniques of needles and fire cupping. Make sure to check with your primary if you’re a good candidate for alternative therapies. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
Pain from acupuncture slippers?
Sorry to hear. Perhaps you are referring to reflexology slippers that can focus on acupuncture points? Foot reflexology is like the massage aspect of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM); these products are often mislabeled as acupuncture slippers. Acupuncture points on the bottom of the feet are very minimal. These slippers are a lot like self-massaging at home with a tennis ball under the back or shoulder. They’re excellent and easy to use. However, it sounds like you may have a condition where these slippers aren’t helping with your back & posture. You may have to look into foot orthopedics to have this corrected and have a podiatrist analyze your feet/gait effect on posture. READ MORE
Can acupuncture help neuropathy in feet?
I have used acupuncture to help with neuropathy of the feet. Of course the practitioner should get to the root of the problem and address it as so. See if your primary will approve of alternative medicine first. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
Is acupuncture good for arthritis in the neck?
Acupuncture is excellent for pain and/or stress/anxiety. I have helped patients with neck pain and flexibility whether or not it was due to arthritis. Acupuncture cannot reverse the arthritis, but can improve the quality of life through pain relief and flexibility. Depending on how severe the arthritis is, check with your primary to see if you’re a viable candidate for alternative treatment. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
What are the benefits of acupuncture for generalized anxiety disorder?
Generalized anxiety may be affecting your sleep, mood, appetite, interfering with daily activities, your heart, muscle rigidity, and even your lungs through depression. Acupuncture is effectively known to treat pain and anxiety/stress. I have treated patients with daily-life/work stress and even PTSD conditions. With treatments, these patients have told me they noticed other issues they were having improved as well, though they never told me about those issues. With acupuncture for generalized anxiety, you should feel a sense of peace and able to calm yourself easier should something trigger your stress. Again, you may also notice neck-shoulder tension or even TMJ will ease up due to the relief from stress. Some people will experience relief from fullness and distension, GERD related issues in Chinese medicine we relate to Liver and Gall Bladder energy that are often associated with stress. Results will depend on how long someone has been experiencing the symptoms, what the cause is and how easily the patient responds to the qi treatment. Make sure to check with your primary if this is a suitable alternative for your condition. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
How often should I get acupuncture for panic attacks?
Acupuncture is very good for anxiety and I have helped patients with panic attacks. Everyone responds to acu treatments differently. A prognosis should be expected after the practitioner is able to evaluate you. Generally, I have helped with acupuncture treatments starting once a week for a few times then once every other week. After about 2 months, maintenance could be expected every 6-12 months. But again, it depends on your condition and response to treatments. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
Can acupuncture help with lung pain?
Acupuncture is about harmonizing the energy to free up the qi flow and resolve issues that may be stagnating/blocking. Pain is acupuncture's best issue to resolve, it has even been used as an anesthetic for surgery. I have even used acupuncture to help patients' breathe easier when they have difficulty breathing. Of course, if it is something physical like a rib piercing the lung or out of place you may want to seek a professional who can handle manipulating the correct realignments. Make sure to check with your primary to see if you're a candidate for acupuncture. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
Fatigue after acupuncture?
Typically, an acupuncture session will drain your energy in efforts to harmonize the qi flow; almost like it resets the qi flow and will return the next day. Sometimes a patient will faint during treatment, usually because they have skipped a meal or haven’t eaten. Being fatigued for a few days is rare, but it may be from a combination of acupuncture points selected and your weakened state. Make sure to eat before the treatment, keep hydrated before and after. Make sure to check with your primary that you’re a capable candidate for acupuncture as well. Live Happy, Michael READ MORE
