A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Pappa is known for his expertise in the field of glaucoma. Since joining Arena Eye Surgeons in 1992, he continues his high volume glaucoma practice, offering both glaucoma laser surgery, invasive glaucoma surgeries and cataract surgeries. He is truly passionate about glaucoma management, and is able to perform these procedures in the Delaware and downtown locations.
In his professional experience, he can be found on staff at Grant Medical Center and Grady Memorial Hospital, and is the Team Ophthalmologist for the Columbus Blue Jackets. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University.
With a broad educational background, Dr. Pappa graduated from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and then went on to pursue his medical degree from The Ohio State University. He completed his residency in ophthalmic surgery at The Ohio State University where he also served as Chief Resident. He further received fellowship training in glaucoma and anterior segment surgery at the Havener Eye Institute at The Ohio State University.
An authority in his field, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
Remaining up to date in his field, Dr. Pappa is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Ohio Ophthalmological Society, the American Medical Association, the Ohio State Medical Association, the Ohio State Pharmaceutical Association, and the Phi Delta Chi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity.
Enjoying teaching, Dr. Pappa has lectured extensively in the fields of glaucoma, anterior segment and ocular pharmacology both locally and statewide. He has published articles reflecting his special interest in pharmacologic agents that alter wound healing after eye surgery. Presently, his time is devoted to high volume glaucoma patients and ensuring they are receiving the best care possible.

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Pappa has been the recipient of the College of Pharmacy Faculty Award (1979), Medical Microbiology and Immunology Award (1987), Research Award by the Resident-Alumni Research Symposium (1990), The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy Distinguished Alumni Award (2006), and Top Doctor Award by Columbus Monthly Magazine (2015-2021).
In his personal note, Dr. Pappa has 3 children who are currently pursuing a career in the medical field. He enjoys spending time with his three children and one grandchild. He enjoys playing hockey, jogging, and attending Columbus Blue Jacket events.
