Get to know Internist Dr. Daniel Hidaka, who serves patients in Illinois.
Dr. Hidaka is the lead internist for Harper Health Glenview where he is building his practice.
Currently, he is only accepting patients in a retainer practice based model, also referred to as “concierge medicine.” His goal is to develop long-term relationships with patients in order to focus on their comprehensive medical care, while emphasizing ownership of the patient as a whole. In this model of care, Dr. Hidaka is able to offer extended visit time with each patient with increased availability and accessibility. He offers same day or next day appointments, email, text and cell phone communication as well as routinely visiting hospitalized patients.
What he loves about Harper Health: “I get to be a true doctor, which is what I love to do. Taking care of patients and developing long-term relationships with them is what it is all about.”
Since 2009, Dr. Hidaka has been serving as a Clinical Instructor at the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. He also has staff privileges at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Evanston Hospital.
His practice focus areas include chronic disease management, comprehensive primary care, concierge medicine, men’s health, preventive medicine, and women’s health.
A Chicagoland native, Dr. Hidaka was born in Park Ridge at Lutheran General Hospital and grew up in Glenview, avidly playing baseball and ice hockey into high school. He attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated Cum Laude with Degrees in both Bioengineering and Biochemistry.
Furthering his medical training, Dr. Hidaka earned his Medical Degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and then trained alongside Dr. Meg at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Committed to excellence, he is board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.
Happily married, Dr. Hidaka and his wife live in Glenview with their two small children.
Outside of practicing medicine, he enjoys fishing for bass with anyone who will join him, carpentry around the house, and spending time with his family. His favorite thing about Chicago is their sports team – the Chicago Bears, his go-to comfort food is Lou Malnati’s Pizza, and his favorite place to vacation is Northern Wisconsin. On his bucket list is an Alaskan cruise and tour of Denali National Park.
