Rebecca Andrews, MD, MS, FACP, embarked on her journey in general medicine after earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Biology from Boston College, followed by her medical degree and residency at the University of Connecticut. She spent several years as a primary care physician in a community health setting before returning to academia at the University of Connecticut. Presently, Dr. Andrews serves as an Associate Professor, holding a multifaceted role that includes being a Primary Care Provider, the Director of Ambulatory Education for the Internal Medicine Residency Program, and the Associate Program Director. She is engaged in pioneering medical practice transformation through a CMMI Practice Transformation grant and leads the Patient-Centered Medical Home initiative. Her efforts concentrate on crafting innovative curricula and clinical experiences aimed at encouraging graduates to pursue careers in primary care, enhancing chronic pain education, and improving communication between healthcare providers and patients. Additionally, she develops tools to identify the needs of resident trainees promptly for swift intervention. As the Governor of the Connecticut ACP chapter, she is dedicated to advocating for the medical profession and patient care. Dr. Andrews credits her achievements to her commitment to patient safety, accessibility, education, mentoring, cutting-edge technology, and making a meaningful impact every day.
