Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Duncan Burkholder, who serves patients in Lubbock, Texas.

An exceptional obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Burkholder is in practice at the Grace Clinic – Obstetrics Center in Lubbock, Texas. He has delivered hundreds of babies in his over 30 years of providing obstetrics and gynecology services to the women of the West Texas region. He believes choosing an experienced gynecological surgeon can minimize risks and will ultimately lead to a higher level of patient satisfaction. He encourages women to exercise their right of patient choice, recommending they communicate any specific concerns they might have and ask questions about both the medical and hormonal treatment options available.

Born and raised in Pecos, Texas, he graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Before attending medical school, he joined the United States Army, serving three years as an Artillery Officer with the 101st Airborne Division. Thereafter, he earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston before returning to Lubbock to complete his residency in obstetrics and gynecology.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

In addition to his busy medical practice, Dr. Burkholder also serves as the Medical Director of the Parkridge Pregnancy Center in Lubbock, which started more than 20 years ago as a crisis pregnancy center. The center’s budget comes from donations, and the services are free.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Burkholder is a recent recipient of a Five-Star Rating for Gynecologic Surgery from HealthGrades.
