A native of Nigeria, he completed his medical education and residency in general practice at the Obafemi Awolowo University. After relocating to the United States, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the North Shore Medical Center Salem Hospital, and his fellowship in hematology/oncology at the Boston University Medical Center. He also earned his Master of Science degree at Boston University.
As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
On a professional level, Dr. Edmund is a proud member of the American Medical Association, the International Society for the Study of Lung Cancer and other medical societies.
An enthusiastic researcher, he focuses primarily on smoking cessation in the context of preventing lung cancer. In addition, he focuses on screening, health care efficiency, cancer and aging, and personalized medicine. He has participated in numerous clinical trials, including one that focused on creating a brief, novel smoking cessation intervention. His research has been published in a number of journals, including the African Journal of Health Sciences.
