Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Mehdi Baluch, who serves patients throughout the State of Michigan.

A board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Baluch works with patients at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital & McLaren Oakland Gastroenterology. His extensive training combined with his clinical experience allows him to successfully diagnose and treat gastrointestinal complications. Additionally, he specializes in intervention GI procedures at St Joseph Mercy Oakland. 

McLaren Lapeer Region is a 222-bed acute care hospital located in Lapeer, Michigan, and is the primary provider of health care services to Lapeer County and the surrounding area. The facility maintains a verified Level II trauma designation and provides comprehensive care in a 29-bed Emergency Center along with specialized services for heart, cancer, orthopedic and general surgery services, physical medicine and rehabilitation, women’s services, wound care services and sleep disorders.

The dedicated team at McLaren Oakland Gastroenterology provides patients with high quality medical care, treating them with kindness and respect in an environment in which they can be comfortable and feel confident they are getting the best advice and the most effective treatments. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Baluch graduated with his medical degree from the King Edward Medical School in Pakistan. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph Mercy, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology at Loyola University Medical Center, and a fellowship in advanced endoscopic at UCLA.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.

Speaking several languages, Dr. Baluch is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Urdu.
