Get to know Otolaryngologist Dr. Ramya Patel, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

An established otolaryngologist, Dr. Patel is affiliated with Medical Center ENT Associates of Houston. 

Born in Houston, she proudly hails from the heart of Texas and has always felt a deep connection to her home state. Her impressive academic journey commenced at Episcopal High School, where she exhibited her academic prowess by graduating as the valedictorian of her class. It was here that she first showcased her commitment to excellence, a trait that would define her future endeavors.

Her quest for knowledge led her to the prestigious Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with Honors. Her time at Johns Hopkins not only reinforced her intellectual acumen but also provided her with a solid foundation in the sciences, setting the stage for her future medical career.

After her undergraduate studies, Dr. Patel made her way back to her beloved Houston, where she embarked on a journey in education. She joined the faculty at Episcopal High School, where she imparted her knowledge of Chemistry to eager students, becoming an influential figure in their academic lives.

However, her passion for medicine beckoned, and she decided to pursue a medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. Here, her dedication to her studies shone brightly, earning her the distinction of graduating with Honors. Furthermore, her excellence in the medical field led to her induction into the esteemed Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Finally, she completed her residency in otolaryngology at the Baylor College of Medicine. 

Beyond her impressive academic and professional achievements, Dr. Patel is a well-respected member of various medical societies, including the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society, the Houston Society of Otolaryngology, and the Texas Medical Association.

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Pediatric otolaryngologists are primarily concerned with medical and surgical treatment of ear, nose, and throat diseases in children. They generally provide the following services: diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, and throat disorders, as well as head and neck diseases.

Outside of her busy professional life, Dr. Patel cherishes her moments with her family. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and son, finding balance in her personal and professional pursuits.
