How painful is a colon resection?
In general there is little pain from the colon its self. Most of the pain will be from the incision(s). The amount of pain is variable depending on the details of the incision(s). Laparoscopic/robotic tends to hurt less. The other main factor is your tolerance to pain. I find a TAP block with Exparel is helpful. READ MORE

What can I drink after appendix surgery?
No specific dietary restrictions after a typical uncomplicated appendectomy. I usually start with small amounts of clear liquids such as water and apple juice and work up from there. Within a day most are back to a regular diet. READ MORE

Vague question but in general biopsies are done during a colonoscopy which is usually an outpatient procedure. READ MORE

What type of surgery is best for inguinal hernia?
Igenerally group inguinal hernia repairs into 1 of 3 categories. 1: Thelaparoscopic preperitoneal repair using mesh which is what I do most commonly. 2: The open Lichtenstein type mesh repair which I do for older people with othersignificant medical problems and larger hernia defects. 3: Mesh free repairs such as the Bassini repair. I had a bilateral inguinal hernia?
Tired and loss of endurance are normal. The mass is not. It may be an early recurrence, hematoma or seroma, abscess, etc. Needs to be re-evaluated by the surgeon. READ MORE
Weird stool?
Stools can have a variety of sizes and shapes. Not sure this is a problem especially if you have had normal stools after this. If your stool is always abnormal you should see a GI doc. The bigger issue may be the symptoms similar to your previous gall bladder symptoms. Get an appointment to see your surgeon or a GI doc. Bleeding/loss of blood?
Alcoholics can die from GI bleeding. She needs to get help. You can't make her go to the hospital but you can be supportive and offer to help to make her decision easier. Solve her excuses for not going (who going to feed her pet, get mail, water plants, give her a rid, etc.) READ MORE

Why am I having these issues after a hernia mesh?
Assuming a standard Lichtenstein type inguinal hernia repair, it's not likely. The nerves for erection and ejaculation do not travel through the inguinal region where the surgery occurred and the mesh was placed. Consider seeing a urologist. READ MORE
Can diverticulitis require intestine removal?
Most people do not require surgery. However, those with severe problems from infection, bleeding or obstruction will need to have a portion of the colon removed. Occasionally, this will require a temporary colostomy. READ MORE
