Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Karen L. Ferguson, who serves patients in Vero Beach, Florida.

In practice since 1983, Dr. Ferguson is an obstetrician-gynecologist who is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida.

Since opening its doors in 1932, Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital has grown from a small community facility to a 332-bed, not-for-profit hospital. The mission of the hospital is to provide exceptional, patient-centered, evidence-based healthcare. This is done through a combination of world-class clinical expertise with extraordinary technology and compassion.

A graduate of the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Dr. Ferguson went on to complete her internship in internal medicine and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florida. 

Before long, she became board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.

To advance her professional efforts, Dr. Ferguson remains a member of numerous societies and associations, including the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the American Urogynecologic Society, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the Florida Medical Association, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (Fellow), and the Society of Gynecological Surgeons.

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
