Baton Rouge, Louisiana – Since joining Associates in Women’s Health (AWH) in August 2006, Terrie R. Thomas, MD, FACOG, has been dedicated to delivering quality and compassionate obstetric care to women of all ages, with a particular focus on high-risk pregnancies and gynecological issues. She is also highly skilled in physician-assisted robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgical techniques, offering advanced options to her patients.
Founded in 1998, AWH is a collaborative group of female healthcare professionals committed to providing the highest quality women’s health services. With a mission to empower women from adolescence to late adulthood, the practice offers comprehensive obstetric care, state-of-the-art surgical procedures, evidence-based health screenings, and a range of additional services aimed at enhancing women’s health.
Dr. Thomas is a proud Baton Rouge native, having graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy. She earned her Undergraduate Degree in Microbiology from Louisiana State University, where she was recognized as one of the Top 25 Graduating Seniors. Dr. Thomas went on to receive her Medical Degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2002, followed by her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. During her residency, her dedication to education earned her accolades for Excellence in Teaching as she mentored medical students and fellow residents.
As a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Thomas maintains a strong commitment to professional excellence. Her leadership experience includes serving as Chief of the Medical Staff at Woman’s Hospital during its transition to the Briarwood campus, and she continues to nurture her passion for teaching as an Assistant Clinical Professor for the OB/GYN Departments at LSU and Tulane.
When she is not caring for her patients, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending quality time with her family, cooking, and volunteering in her community. Her commitment to patient care and community service exemplifies the values held by Associates in Women’s Health.
