Get to know Surgeon Dr. Yvette Laclaustra, who serves the Florida area at 21st Century Oncology/Florida Breast Care. Dr. Laclaustra completed her undergraduate program from the University of Puerto Rico where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Biology in 1977. She then attended the University Central Del Caribe in Puerto Rico where she graduated with her Medical Degree in 1981, giving her over three decades of experience in her field. She then relocated to the United States where she completed her general surgery residency at Nassau County Medical Center where she was named Chief Resident. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and to stay up to date in her field she remains a professional member of the , Association of Women Surgeons, and the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Laclaustra currently practices with 21st Century Oncology/Florida Breast Care and is affiliated with Good Samaritan Medical Center, Wellington Regional Medical Center, and Jupiter Medical Center. She holds an expertise in breast surgery. She runs a non-profit room for the underserved, underprivileged and uninsured. She donates her time and skills to help those in need of surgery and healthcare. General surgeons not only perform surgeries for a wide range of common ailments, but are also responsible for patient care before, during, and after surgery. General surgeons are trained to operate on the Alimentary Tract (esophagus and related organs), Abdomen and its Contents, Breast, Skin and Soft Tissue, and the Endocrine System. In addition, general surgeons are expected to have knowledge and experience in Surgical Critical Care, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma. When she is not working, Dr. Laclaustra enjoys biking, swimming, reading, and traveling.
