Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Miguel Albino, who serves patients in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Albino is a medical oncologist & hematologist practicing at Texas Oncology-Austin North Suite 300. He  strives to combine high quality cancer technology with compassionate patient care. 

His focus is staying on the leading edge of cancer care in order to provide his patients the most up-to-date treatments. He enjoys discussing all available treatment options with his patients as well as their family members and involving them in the decision-making process.

Dr. Albino received his BA in Biology from Boston University. He later returned to his childhood home in Puerto Rico to be near his family. He obtained his medical degree from Universidad Central Del Caribe where he graduated with honors. He then went on to perform his internship in internal medicine, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in oncology at Veterans Affair Hospital in San Juan.

Following his training, he attained board certification in medical oncology and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Albino is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American College of Physicians, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Medical Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Albino was raised by Hispanic parents and is a native Spanish speaker. He is married with 2 children. He enjoys spending time with his family during his spare time, particularly his children’s sporting events and musical recitals. He also enjoys participating in outdoor sporting activities, watching movies, and traveling with family and friends.
