Recognized among the Best Doctors in America since 1997, Maureen Strohm, MD brings more than 40 years of experience in caring for patients and families in communities from downtown Los Angeles, to the Coachella Valley and on to Las Vegas.
Dr. Maureen Strohm is a family physician and addiction medicine specialist, now founding program director for HCA Sunrise Health’s inaugural Addiction Medicine Fellowship in Las Vegas, NV – the first addiction medicine fellowship in Nevada. She began her career in medical education following her graduation from Georgetown University School of Medicine and UCLA Family Medicine Residency, serving as a National Health Service Corps scholar in downtown and East Los Angeles, when she joined the Keck USC faculty. Over the years, her passion for medical education has been a key focus, combining the fundamentals of doctor-patient communication, family dynamics, the bio-psycho-social model, and clinical care of one of most marginalized patient groups in healthcare today – patients and families with substance use disorders. She was a Family Medicine program director at Keck USC for many years, and then moved to Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage as founding FM program director, later moving on to Las Vegas to establish another family medicine residency with the HCA Sunrise Health GME Consortium. She has now turned her attention to launch a new Addiction Medicine fellowship - the first ADM fellowship in the state of Nevada. An active member of California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM) throughout her career, she has been a member of the Medical Education and Research Foundation for the Treatment of Addiction (MERF) Board of Directors since 2011, as part of the faculty team developing the Motivational Interviewing workshops over the years and was elected President of the MERF Board of Directors in 2022.

An exceptional family physician, Dr. Strohm is the Founding Program Director of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship based at Southern Hills Hospital & Medical Center, as part of the HCA Healthcare Sunrise Health GME.
The mission of the HCA Healthcare Sunrise Health Addiction Medicine Program is to develop the next generation of physicians and physician leaders. Reflecting their HCA mission and together with their community partners, they are committed to train exceptional, knowledgeable, caring addiction medicine physicians to provide comprehensive, compassionate and evidence-based care to patients, their families and their communities in great need.
Dr. Strohm began her career in medical education following her graduation from Georgetown University School of Medicine and UCLA Family Medicine Residency, serving as a National Health Service Corps scholar in downtown and East Los Angeles, when she joined the Keck USC faculty. She also serves as a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas

An authority in her field, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice family medicine and its sub-specialties.
Moreover, she is board-certified in addiction medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties that issues “certificates of special knowledge” in the specialty of preventive medicine.
Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Strohm is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (DFASAM), and Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP).
Continuously advancing her efforts, she is an active member of the California Society of Addiction Medicine, the Clark County Medical Society, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and the Nevada State Medical Association.
