Associated Gastroenterologists of Central New York, PC was established in 1975 by their retired founder, Dr. Michael A. FitzGerald. Since that time, they have grown into the largest GI practice in Central New York with 7 physicians, 4 nurse practitioners, 1 physician assistant, 4 office locations and 2 Ambulatory Surgery Centers (Endoscopy Centers) to serve patients’ needs.
A native of Pakistan, Dr. Nizam received his undergraduate education at the Dow Medical College and completed an internship at the Civil Hospital in Karachi, before relocating to the United States and earning his medical degree from the New York Medical College. After completing an additional internship at Cook County Hospital, he went on to complete his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the SUNY Upstate Medical University.
With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
