Rene, a dedicated registered nurse, has held the position of Divisional Director of Cardiovascular Services at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, since December 2004.
For more than 70 years, Medical Center Hospital has been dedicated to serving Ector County and the surrounding 17 counties of the Permian Basin. Since its establishment in 1949, it has evolved from a modest county hospital to a thriving 402-bed regional medical center, catering to the needs of over 100,000 patients annually.
In addition to his leadership role, Rene is deeply committed to mentoring aspiring healthcare professionals. He serves as adjunct faculty at various educational institutions, including The University of Texas Permian Basin’s School of Nursing (since 2014), Odessa College (since 2020), and Sul Ross University (since 2023), where he guides students on the optimal paths for their careers in medicine.
Beginning his academic journey, Rene earned his Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Odessa College in 2004. Following this foundation, he advanced his education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Texas Tech University in 2007.
Building upon his undergraduate studies, Rene continued to expand his expertise and credentials, earning a Master of Science in Nursing Degree from Walden University in 2014. Driven by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and a commitment to excellence, he furthered his education at Walden University, culminating in the attainment of a Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree in 2017.
Professionally, Rene remains an engaged participant in the American College of Cardiology, acknowledging that his achievements are a result of the collaborative efforts of those around him, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff.
