Get to know Neurosurgeon Dr. Praveen Reddy, who serves patients in Ocala, Florida.

Dr. Reddy is a neurosurgeon in practice with HCA Florida Ocala Neurosurgical Specialists – Ocala in Florida. Known for complete retractor less brain surgery, he is committed to the care and improvement of human life.

Some of the procedures that he performs / conditions that he treats include the following: brain tumors, brain aneurysm, decompression, fracture / dislocation treatment, oncology (surgical) – other general surgery, pituitary disorders, spondylopathies / spondyloarthropathy (including infective), vertebral osteotomy – anterior (includes discectomy), and vertebroplasty. 

Born in India, Dr. Reddy earned his medical degree from Osmania Medical College. He subsequently trained in India at NIMS, a premier institution for neurosurgical residency in 1998. 

He was board-certified in neurosurgery in India, and moved to New York where he did a fellowship in general neurosurgery. He then performed a residency at the prestigious Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota in 2006, and subsequently completed a fellowship in neurooncology & cerebrovascular and skull base surgery with Prof. Ugur Ture.

Staying on faculty at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Reddy did private practice at Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis till 2018. He built one of the busiest practices in neurosurgery in Minneapolis, with a strong focus on brain tumors, aneurysms, pituitary tumors, and minimally invasive spine surgery. 

Affiliated with HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, he has incorporated all recent advances in neurosurgery, including minimally invasive surgery for spinal disorders, robotic surgery for spinal disorders, endoscopic surgery for skull base tumors, and intraventricular endoscopy.

A member of the American Association of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Reddy is also board-certified through the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, certain types of birth defects, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.

Among Dr. Reddy’s various accolades include Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2018, 2013, 2012) and Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2013).

In his free time, he is an avid golfer. Happily married, he and his wife have three kids.
