Get to know Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Rajiv V. Taliwal, who served patients throughout the State of Ohio.

A well-regarded orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Taliwal specializes in adult disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, which include deformities, degenerative conditions, tumors, trauma, and infections. He is in practice with Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center, seeing patients at the following offices in Ohio: Akron, Kent, Medina, Broadview Heights, Canton, and Cuyahoga Falls.

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center, a physician-owned orthopaedic hospital, brings together Greater Akron’s most respected group of orthopaedic surgeons at locations convenient for patients. The Center’s board-certified surgeons have the training and knowledge to improve patients’ quality of life. Most of them have additional specialty-specific fellowship training as well.

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Taliwal graduated with his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1995. He then went on to perform his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and his fellowship in spine surgery at Hospital for Spinal Surgery.

In 2003, the doctor attained board certification in orthopaedic surgery and surgery of the spine through the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Taliwal is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the North American Spine Society, and the Ohio State Medical Association.

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

Among his numerous accolades, Dr. Taliwal is the recipient of Top 10 Doctor – City (2014), Patients’ Choice Award (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015, 2017, 2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2016, 2017, 2018), and Patients’ Choice 5th Anniversary Award (2020).

On a more personal note, he speaks multiple languages, including English, Hindi, and Urdu.
