Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Muhammad S. Ghani, who serves patients in Henderson, Nevada.

Dr. Ghani is a skilled, fellowship-trained hematologist-oncologist working at Horizon Ridge Henderson Treatment Center, which is a part of Comprehensive Cancer Centers. He treats patients with serious blood disorders and all cancer types with a special interest in lung, colon, and breast cancer. Likewise, he strives to provide the best care possible to all of his patients by offering the latest in treatments and research. 

Comprehensive Cancer Centers is a multi-specialty practice offering cancer treatment centers throughout Southern Nevada. The practice offers patient-centered care with access to medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, breast surgery, cancer genetic counseling, and clinical research. 

The Horizon Ridge Henderson Treatment Center offers medical oncology and hematology services to patients with cancer and blood disorders in Southern Nevada. It also works closely with other locations to offer seamless flow of care for those requiring breast surgery and radiation treatment. The Treatment Center provides cancer genetic counseling services for those patients who have a family history and for those who might want to receive a cancer genetic risk assessment.

Providing world-class cancer care in a supportive and caring environment, Dr. Ghani has access to an expansive database of more than 170 clinical trials that the practice participates in annually. Prior to joining Comprehensive, he was an oncologist at Cancer & Blood Specialists of Nevada.

A 1990 graduate of Dow University of Health Sciences in Pakistan, Dr. Ghani decided to relocate to the United States in order to further his education. He performed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in hematology-oncology at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, New York, where he served as Chief Administrative Fellow. He also participated in a one-year fellowship with the Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Immunotherapy (BMT-CI) Program at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute.

Staying up-to-date with the latest ways to keep patients healthy and inspired, the doctor is board-certified in medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma. 

Playing a major role in cancer care, Dr. Ghani has been recognized among America’s Most Honored Professionals by The American Registry and as a Top Oncologist by Nevada Magazine. He has received the On-Time Physician, Compassionate Doctor, and Patients’ Choice awards from Vitals.com and also the Blanche Finkel Fellowship Award for Excellence in Hematology-Oncology.

On a more personal note, Dr. Ghani is married and has three children. He likes to travel and spend time with family and friends. He is fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu.
