Get to know Addiction Medicine Specialist Dr. Neelam Taneja-Uppal, who serves patients in Florida.

A highly personable, competent and team-spirited Addiction Medicine Specialist, Dr. Taneja-Uppal is recognized for excelling in fast track, high-stress environments. 

A native of India, she graduated with her medical degree from the Christian Medical College in 1984. After relocating to the United States, she completed her internship at Methodist Hospital in 1985, her residency in internal medicine at the Jersey City Medical Center in 1987, and her fellowship in adult & pediatric infectious disease & HIV at the New York Hospital of Queens.

An expert in her field, the doctor is board-certified in infectious disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Continuously advancing her efforts, Dr. Taneja-Uppal is an active member of the Medical Society of the State of New York, the Pinellas County Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association, the Florida Infectious Disease Society, the Infectious Disease Society of American, the American College of Physicians, the Florida Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, and the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin.

She has authored two books, Chronic Diseases and Is your Pet Safe. 

Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Taneja-Uppal has been the recipient of various accolades, including the America’s Top Physician Award by National Survey (2012), Physician of The Year by NRCC (2006), Madison’s Who’s Who Award, Cambridge Who’s Who Award, and the American College of Physicians Research Award (1990).
