Get to know Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. David Robert Weber, who serves patients in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Weber is a fellowship-trained infectious disease specialist who lends his skills and expertise to serve patients at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside & the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center McKeesport.

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside is a tertiary care hospital that has been serving the residents of Pittsburgh and the tri-state area since 1866. It offers primary medical care, physician and nursing education, and a broad range of specialty health care services that include: heart and vascular medicine, oncology, geriatrics, orthopaedics, endocrinology, and more. 

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center McKeesport is dedicated to providing the right care, every time, which is the guiding mission of all McKeesport staff. A 1981 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Dr. Weber went on to serve his residency in internal medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His postgraduate training also included a fellowship in infectious disease at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor.

With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, Dr. Weber is board-certified in infectious disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Infectious disease is a medical specialty dealing with prevention, the diagnosis, and treatment of infections. An infectious disease specialist’s practice also consists of managing nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infections.

Voted among the 2012 Best Doctors by Pittsburgh Magazine, Dr. Weber is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2015, 2018) and On-Time Doctor Award (2018).
