Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Casey N. Gashti, who serves patients in Chicago, Illinois.

As a nephrologist specializing in kidney care, Dr. Gashti diagnoses, treats, and manages diseases and complications affecting the kidneys such as kidney stones, chronic kidney disease, renal failure, and chronic urinary tract infections. His areas of expertise include diabetic nephropathy, dialysis, glomerulonephritis, high blood pressure, kidney disease, and vasculitis.

Currently, he holds the position of Associate Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology at Rush Medical College. He also has medical privileges at the Rush University Medical Center.

The doctor started his medical career in 2002 when he earned his medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He then went on to complete a residency in internal medicine at the Rush University Medical Center, which was followed by a fellowship in nephrology at the same educational venue.

With almost 20 years of experience in the field of nephrology, Dr. Gashti is board-certified in nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatric medicine that concerns itself with the kidneys: the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy.
