Dr. Edwina Baskin-Bey, MD, is a distinguished global biopharmaceutical expert, patent holder, and acclaimed physician-scientist, boasting more than 25 years of experience across both academia and industry. From an early age, she aspired to pursue a career in medicine, beginning her higher education at the age of 16. Despite facing significant challenges, including a suboptimal socio-economic start to life after leaving home as a young teenager, Dr. Baskin-Bey persevered by putting herself through college and graduate school, supported by remarkable mentors and friends who became like family to her.

As the founder of The EGCC, a comprehensive global oncology consulting firm with an international presence, Dr. Baskin-Bey and her team provide strategic guidance and practical assistance to pharmaceutical companies, venture capitalists, and investment banks, particularly in the realm of oncology product development. In addition, she serves as an Advisory Board Member for Univo Central IRB and acts as an independent oncology central IRB reviewer at Pearl Pathways. She previously held a position as an Executive Board Member at Catalyst Clinical Research, an oncology-focused contract research organization based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

In her prior roles, Dr. Baskin-Bey was the Chief Medical Officer and Executive Board Member of a France-based clinical-stage nanomedicine biotech that was at the forefront of innovative cancer treatments. Before this, she served as Chief Medical Officer at Innocrin Pharmaceuticals, a biotechnology company dedicated to inhibiting androgen biosynthesis for solid tumor therapy, where she was instrumental in formulating and executing the clinical and corporate strategy. Dr. Baskin-Bey transitioned to Innocrin from Janssen Oncology (Johnson & Johnson), where she oversaw global development programs for oncology products in both early and late stages.

Earlier in her career, while residing in the European Union, she managed the life cycle of several major global oncology initiatives and led the European Medical Affairs division for the Oncology Business Unit at Astellas Pharma. Dr. Baskin-Bey earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hunter College in New York City and her medical degree from the Mount Sinai/NYU School of Medicine, also in New York. She received training in general surgery and oncology at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, studied clinical trial biostatistics with EORTC in Brussels, Belgium, honed her business leadership skills at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, and learned fundamental research principles from the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Baskin-Bey also has received a business education in venture capital and private equity from Columbia Business School, in NY, NY.

A parallel passion for Dr. Baskin-Bey is interior design, where she has completed many home decor projects over the last 10-years. She also enjoys reading esteemed publications such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, and The Lancet Oncology medical journals as well as mentoring up-and-coming young physicians, future scientists, and early entrepreneurs.
