Get to know Internist Dr. Monica Barrientos, who serves patients in New Jersey.

A well-versed internist, Dr. Barrientos is currently accepting new patients at her private practice in West New York, New Jersey.

She is also affiliated with Hackensack Meridian Palisades Medical Center, a 202-bed hospital located in North Bergen, New Jersey, United States, that serves a population of 400,000 in Hudson County and in Southern Bergen County. 

Educated in Peru, Dr. Barrientos graduated with her medical degree from the Faculty of Human Medicine of the University of San Martín de Porres in 2001. She then relocated to the United States, performing her internship and residency at Raritan Bay Medical Center in New Jersey.

Following her training, she attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

In honor of her clinical expertise, Dr. Barrientos has been the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2015, 2017, 2018).
