Being a highly qualified obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Thom serves patients at The Center for Women’s Health in Newport News and Hampton, Virginia. With a special interest in infertility, he has extensive training in the current techniques of laparoscopic gynecologic surgery. Perhaps his most notable characteristic is his genuine care for his patients, as well as his dedication to always studying the latest technologies and techniques for use in his surgeries.
Having been practicing in the Hampton Roads/Newport News area since 1985, Dr. Thom previously served as the Chief of Medical Staff at Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital. He joined The Center for Women’s Health team in October of 1995.
The Center for Women’s Health provides comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology services to women of all ages. The experienced team of board-certified obstetricians-gynecologists and support staff offer patient-focused care that meets a woman’s health care needs at all stages of life. The women’s health specialists perform in-office procedures and surgery to diagnose and treat many gynecological conditions. They also offer onsite lab tests and ultrasounds. In addition to routine gynecology care and complete obstetrical care, the full-service OB/GYN practice specializes in infertility evaluation and treatment. They also diagnose and manage many common women’s health issues, such as menorrhagia and menopause.
Growing up in Wales in the United Kingdom, Dr. Thom trained at St George’s University of London in England. After training in England for two more years, he relocated to the United States and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. While there, he met his wife, Kathy.
The doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, whose mission is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health. He is also affiliated with Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital.
