Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. David J. Applebaum, who serves patients in Boca Raton, Florida.

One of the most renowned plastic surgeons in Boca Raton, Dr. Applebaum offers the full spectrum of cosmetic, plastic, and reconstructive surgery options at his private practice to create beautiful youthful results. He has expertise and advanced specialization in the latest techniques for facial enhancement, breast surgery, liposuction, advanced skin services, and laser treatments. 

A recognized leader for plastic surgery for men and women, he emphasizes safety, comfort, and the utmost attention to detail in all of his cosmetic and reconstructive procedures. He puts each patient at ease by spending ample time explaining options and procedures and answering any questions they may have. He also personally oversees the patient’s overall care and directs the highly qualified aesthetic staff to insure their individual needs are met before, during, and after the procedure. In doing so, he strives to make it possible for his patients to regain self-confidence and a sense of well-being from looking and feeling their best. 

Among his various roles, Dr. Applebaum is an Appointed Member of the National Medical Advisory for Photomedex Corp, a Certified Instructor for Advanced Techniques in Dermal Fillers, as well as an Editorial Advisor and Editor at iHealthSpot. He is also affiliated with Boca Raton Regional Hospital and Delray Medical Center.

Graduating with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in 1984, he completed his residency in general surgery and his fellowship in hand surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He then completed an additional residency in plastic surgery at the Medical University in Charleston, where he was Chief Resident, and an additional fellowship in aesthetic surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. 

Dedicated to providing exceptional care and beautiful outcomes, the doctor is board-certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  He achieved a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in  Hand & Microsurgery.

Holding the position of President of the Palm Beach County Plastic Surgeons, IPA, Dr. Applebaum is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the International Society of Clinical Plastic Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Florida Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the Palm Beach County Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the Lipoplasty Society of North America, the Florida Hand Society, the Palm Beach County Hand Society, the Burkhalter Hand Society, the Florida Medical Hand Society, the Palm Beach County Medical Society, the Malignant Hyperthermia Association of the United States, and the American College of Surgeons (Fellow).

Throughout his 30+ years line of work, Dr. Applebaum has been a medical consultant for skin care companies, has served on several medical advisory panels, and has participated in pilot studies for cosmetic products. He currently instructs and lectures nationally on advanced injection techniques in neurotoxins and dermal fillers, having earned certifications for Restylane, Botox, and Photomedex.

A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done. 

Dr . Applebaum has worked with the American Cancer Society and the Breast Cancer Task Force.  He has regularly volunteered at hospitals for skin cancer screenings, and a regular community presenter for a variety of cosmetic surgery topics, hand surgery, laser surgery, and skin cancer. He was a volunteer for his community’s tattoo removal project.
