Born and raised in a small, cozy township in southern India, Dr. Peri began learning the science of medicine at age 16 at Osmania Medical College. She immigrated to the United States in 1993 and completed her residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, before completing a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
With an unwavering commitment to her specialty, the doctor is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Continuously advancing her efforts, she is an active member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the American Society of Nephrology, and the Renal Physicians Association.
Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care or kidney transplantation when it becomes necessary.
Happily married, Dr. Peri has two children and actively volunteers in the community and at her children's school. She has a passion for inspiring young minds towards excellence. Speaking several languages, she is fluent in English, Hindi, and Telugu.
