How do I relieve tension at the base of my skull?
Good afternoon. One of the best ways to relieve tension at the base of the skull is by using a cervical orthotic to traction the neck at least once a day. You can find the Apex Cervical Orthosis traction block on Amazon. It should only be used 5 to 10 minutes a day. You may need to contact your local Chiropractor for further instructions. Can a chiropractor fix a herniated disc?
Good afternoon. Unfortunately, once a disc has protruded or bulged, there is no proven way to fix it. Chiropractic care does not fix a herniated disc but it can greatly improve the symptoms associated with this condition, depending on the severity of the disc bulge and or protrusion. There are various stretches and exercises to alleviate discogenic pain. I would advise seeking professional help before trying any at home exercises and stretches. Hedie Adamous D.C. READ MORE
How long does it take for sciatica to go away?
Good afternoon. There is really no way to tell how long sciatic pain might stick around. Sciatic pain might be caused by a number of things which may impact ones prognosis. If your sciatic pain is musculoskeletal, then a few weeks of physiotherapy and rest might help. If your sciatic pain is discogenic (caused by a protruded disc that might be pinching the nerve), then you might want to look into some anti-inflammatory remedies, spinal traction, and/or epidural injections. The only way to tell if you have a pinched nerve that is causing your sciatica, is by obtaining an MRI. READ MORE
What happens when a chiropractor cracks your neck?
Good morning. There is nothing to be nervous about. Often times, a chiropractic adjustment to the neck can help instantly alleviate neck pain and soreness. With the proper evaluation and care, you will be surprised as to how easy and pain free it an be. A chiropractor looks for restrictions in the spine, where nerves and tissues can be compromised and as a result causing pain to that area. He/she then tries to correct that misalignment or restriction by performing what is called a chiropractic manipulation. The "cracking" you hear is nothing but Oxygen being released between the joint. Kind of like the noise hear when cracking your knuckles. Hedie Adamous D.C. READ MORE
