Get to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Paul R. Bourguignon, who serves patients in Connecticut. 

Specializing in vascular surgery, Dr. Bourguignon is affiliated with Northeast Medical Group – Westerly, an affiliate of Yale New Haven Health. Practicing at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, his areas of clinical expertise include breast disease, laparoscopic surgery, and robotic surgery.

Northeast Medical Group is a not-for-profit multispecialty medical foundation established in 2010. It has more than 130 community practices in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Westchester County, New York. Because it is a part of Yale New Haven Health, patients have access to all the resources of one of the country’s leading health systems. A 1994 graduate of the University of California Davis School of Medicine, Dr. Bourguignon went on to complete his residency at SUNY Health Sciences Center. He followed this up with an additional residency and a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Vermont Affiliated Hospitals.

Following his training, he attained board certification in general surgery through the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Licensed to practice medicine in Connecticut and Rhode Island, Dr. Bourguignon can be found on staff at Westerly Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels. These specialists treat a range of health problems, from spider and varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms, and can help patients manage chronic conditions throughout their lives.
