Dr. Addiego is a board-certified ophthalmologist, who treats diseases of the retina and vitreous. He has been involved in the rapidly evolving field of retinal care and offers many new treatment options to his patients.

At present, he practices at Specialty Eye Institute in Lansing and Battle Creek, Michigan. “As the premier providers of medical surgical eye surgery and LASIK in Mid-Michigan and Northwest Ohio, our team of board-certified ophthalmologists are committed to providing the highest quality in eye care service customized to your individual needs. Our specialists provide care for: cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, eye infections, and laser vision correction.” as stated on the practice’s website. 

Inspired by his father, who practiced family medicine in their New Jersey home, Dr. Addiego’s goal is to touch the lives of each of his patients and the community. He does his best to make sure that each patient is educated, having all their questions answered so the patient is confident in the care and quality of eye services they receive. “My vision is to make the greatest contribution I can to the quality of vision and lives of others.” he stated. 

In regards to his academic career, he earned his Medical Degree from Jefferson Medical College, now the Sidney Kimmel Medical College, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1987.  He then went on to complete his internship at Cooper Hospital and his residency in ophthalmology at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, followed by his fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center. 

Before long, Dr. Addiego became board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America. 

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery. Dr. Addiego’s specialities include diabetic retinopathy, retina surgery, macular degeneration, macular hole, and macular pucker.
