Dr. Christopher Bruce Michelsen MD's Expert Contributions
  • Shoulder pain?

It sounds like you have a subluxating shoulder which needs a complete evaluation before you cause significant damage. READ MORE

  • Elbow pain?

Hard to tell from your description, but it sounds like an Olecranon bursa. If it is not red, inflamed, or swollen, it is probably not infected. If it persists, you should be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon to have it possibly drained. Christopher B. Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS READ MORE

  • Right shoulder pain?

You at least need an X-ray of your shoulder and if it’s negative an MRI. Unfortunately the pain may indicate a spreading of the colon cancer. READ MORE

  • What is causing my leg cramps?

There could be several reasons for your cramps. High on the list would be vascular disease (claudicatioin) or nerve compression (spinal stenosis causing pseudoclaudication). Christopher B. Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS READ MORE

  • Why does my body ache and crack like I am 40?

I would recommend that you consult with a pediatrician who specializes in genetic disorders. There are many things that could be causing your problems, including sequelae from your many injuries. Christopher B. Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS READ MORE

  • Broken finger treatment?

Was the fracture reduced? It needs to be better aligned. There will be stiffness after healing which should not be debilitating. Occupational therapy may be helpful. READ MORE

  • I have right side pain?

This does not sound orthopedic. It may well be from your kidney. A doctor visit may well be necessary. Christopher B. Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS READ MORE

  • Could this be necrosis?

Yes, it does look like the skin is necrotic. This does not mean that the muscle below is also necrotic, probably not. Christopher B. Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS READ MORE

  • I have shoulder/forearm pain?

With such limited information it is difficult to determine what is going on. However you may have a posterior shoulder dislocation or even a fracture. X-rays and an Orthopedic consultation are definitely indicated. READ MORE

  • Can I use an inversion table after knee replacement?

Yes. Christopher B. Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS READ MORE

  • How long is a hospital stay after ankle replacement surgery?

You are usually discharged the next morning. READ MORE

  • Is walking good for osteoporosis?

Yes. Christopher B. Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS READ MORE

  • Benign Bone Tumors and Homeopathic GH Spray (Sublingual)?

At this point, I do not think you have anything to worry about. You can be sure that all is well by getting an X-ray. Christopher B. Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS READ MORE

  • Shoulder Injury?

Sounds like you have a problem with your scapula. There may be a small benign tumor causing the snapping and dyskinesia. An mri of the scapula area might be beneficial. READ MORE

  • High shoulders?

At your age if it has been present for your entire life it means nothing. If you are not having pain or any disability I don’t think it will be a problem. READ MORE

  • Artificial hip?

Probably not. If you start to have severe pain an X-ray is indicated. I suspect that I will see a black and blue area over your hip in the next few days. READ MORE

  • Shoulder pain?

You need to see an orthopedic specialist and get an examination and X-ray. You can have something as simple as bursitis which is causing the problem (frozen shoulder). READ MORE

  • Bilateral leg pain?

Unfortunately, there are no easy solutions. My first guess is that you have degenerative osteoarthritis, which is made worse by your weight. If this is the case, you could obtain temporary relief from injections into the knee, but because of your young age, knee replacement will probably be necessary, which means you will have to get some medical insurance. Christopher B. Michelsen, MD, FAOA, FAAOS, FACS READ MORE

  • Possible old fracture in finger?

First things first. An xray should be taken to determine the diagnosis. READ MORE

  • Ankle pain?

You need to see an orthopedic specialist to be examined and get X-rays of your ankle. You may have ligamentous instability or even a fracture. READ MORE
