Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Scott Forman, who serves the New York City tri-state area at Somers Eye Center. Dr. Forman graduated from Rutgers University with his Medical Degree in 1981, giving him over three decades of experience in his field. After graduation, he completed his internship in Boston, followed by his fellowship with NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. He is NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Board Certified in Ophthalmology and Functional Medicine Integration. He has trained as a Neuro-ophthalmologist and was chief of the Neuro-ophthalmology Section, in the Ophthalmology, Neurology and Neurosurgery departments at Westchester Medical Center, the main teaching hospital of NY Medical College for 29 years, where he trained medical students as well as residents in Ophthalmology, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Pediatrics on a day to day basis. He is familiar with many different healing practices from Ayurvedic Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Herbology, Energy Medicine and Osteopathy, and has trained in Craniosacral Therapy, and studied Orthobionomy and Visceral therapy. At Somers Eye Center, he practice consultative Neuro-ophthalmology, caring for both children and adults with complex ocular and neurologic disorders. Including patients with optic nerve diseases, double vision, brain disorders that affect visual function, such as Parkinsonism, Stroke, neurodegenerative disorders, children with neurodevelopmental and genetic disorders as well as patients with unexplained visual loss. He treats facial spastic disorders and other disorders with Botox and was one of the first physicians in the tri-state area to begin using Botox for medical problems when it was first approved by the FDA in 1990. Dr. Forman attributes his professional success to his love of his patients. When he is not working he enjoys swimming, jazz music, and the guitar.
