Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Ronald Chin, who serves the Cheyenne, WY area at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Dr. Chin earned his medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University and continued his studies with a residency in internal medicine from the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Chin specializes in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating diseases or conditions of the heart and blood vessels and the cardiovascular system. These conditions include heart attacks, heart murmurs, coronary heart disease, and hypertension. Additionally, Dr. Chin practices preventative medicine, helping patients maintain a heart-healthy life. He has been board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. In addition to practicing at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Dr. Chin is affiliated with the Cheyenne Cardiology Clinic. With nearly ten years of experience in his field, Dr. Chin ensures patients are well cared for in all aspects of their lives. He participates in research in the field and works to advance the field of cardiology through his practice. He holds medical licenses in Nebraska and Wyoming and treats congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorders and heart failure, among others. Cardiology is a branch of internal medicine. A cardiologist is not the same as a cardiac surgeon. A cardiac surgeon opens the chest and performs heart surgery, whereas a cardiologist specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the cardiovascular system. The cardiologist will carry out tests and they may perform some procedures, such as heart catheterization, angioplasty or pacemaker insertion. Dr. Chin attributes his successful career to his love of the field and his ability to keep abreast of developments by becoming a lifelong learner. When he is not seeing patients, he enjoys writing and reading cardiology journal publications.
