  • Can i be affected with two types of cataract in the same eye?

It's likely a "secondary cataract" which is called a posterior capsular opacity. This is basically the skin of the old cataract which has become more cloudy. The skin of the old cataract is used to anchor the new lens implant in place and it frequently becomes cloudy. A simple laser can create a small opening in the capsule allowing light to pass through unobstructed. This is likely what's going on, but you need to ask your ophthalmologist to be sure. READ MORE

  • What exactly is glaucoma?

The exact definition of glaucoma is complicated but for simplicity it is a group of eye disorders associated with elevated eye pressures which can cause permeant and irreversible vision loss. (some glaucoma's occur at normal pressure). The damage from Glaucoma usually can be prevented with early detection and treatment if needed. See your Eye MD provider. READ MORE

For example: glaucoma, diabetic eye disease many of which have minimal symptoms. READ MORE

  • Constant eye floaters--what's wrong?

A new floater in one eye requires an urgent eye examination by an ophthalmologist (EYE MD) to rule out retinal tear and/or detachment. Old floaters are not urgent, but a complete medical eye exam (not for glasses) can usually pin point the reason for the floaters. READ MORE
