A true academic, Dr. M. Vaughn Emerson defines what it means to receive a quality education, and world renowned training, creating a fine, experienced physician.  After obtaining his undergraduate degree at Harvard University, Dr. Emerson went on to complete medical school at the Yale University School of Medicine.  His training was furthered at the University of Hawaii where he finished his internship, and then the Wilmer Eye Institute, at Johns Hopkins; for his residency. He finished with fellowship training at Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health & Science University.  While finishing his fellowship, Dr. Emerson received the "Ronald G. Michel's Award," a highly coveted honor. This award is given out annually to one or two outstanding, second-year vitreoretinal fellow(s) across the country.  Today he is successfully practicing in Minnesota at The Retina Center of Minnesota, and teaching at the University of Minnesota, and the Philips Eye Institute.
