About

Ronald Garth Smith, MBBS, FRCPC, obtained his medical degree from the University of West Indies Medical School in 1981.  Upon completion of Medical School he attended the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Ontario for a Pediatric Residency, where he was Chief Resident in 1986, followed by a fellowship at the Women's College Hospital, in Toronto (Neonatology). While at SickKids he co-edited the famous Residents Manual for Pediatrics. He worked as a Consultant Pediatrician for 9 years in Chatham, Ontario during which time he completed some Developmental Pediatric courses at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill then moved to Kingston, Ontario.He has worked at Hotel Dieu Hospital since 1996 as a Developmental Pediatrician at KidsInclusive, Centre for Child & Youth Development (previouslyChild Development Centre).   The centre in one of 20 in Ontario; their vision is, “Children and youth with special needs thriving in their community.”  Dr. Smith is also Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Queen's University.  His devotion to education has led him to receive "Teaching Awards" on three different occasions.  Because of his devotion for education and serving patients Dr. Smith has had a successful 30 year long career.
