Theodore L. Fellenbaum, MD, FACOG, ASSCP, is one of the most seasoned obstetrician-gynecologists in Genesee County. He currently serves as the Clinical Director of Labor and Delivery and Head of the Department of Obstetrics at McLaren Flint Hospital in Michigan. Utilizing the most state-of-the-art techniques in medicine, the physicians in the Department of Obstetrics at McLaren Flint Hospital understand that they represent one of the most important health care partners patients have in navigating the journey of being a woman – and living a healthy and happy life. Often providing care for other physicians in his field, Dr. Fellenbaum’s areas of clinical interest include vulvar disease, vulvodynia, pelvic pain, abnormal PAP smears, and robotic surgery using the DaVinci Robot. He is known for doing over 50 deliveries over Christmas and going from lecture to Intensive Care Unit within minutes.

An exceptional obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Fellenbaum is the head of the OB department and the Clinical Director of Labor and Delivery at Flint McLaren Flint Mi Hospital. He is one of the most experienced OB/GYNs in Genesee County, often taking care of other OB/GYNs. He is the only physician in Michigan specializing in the treatment of vulvar diseases and vulvodynia.

Their physicians utilize the latest advancements in female medicine, to ensure that every patient receives the most effective care possible, in the most caring environment.
A graduate of Oberlin College, Dr. Fellenbaum earned his medical degree from Northwestern University. After medical school he went through a family practice residency in Pensacola, FL at the Naval Aerospace Hospital, which he completed and became board certified in that speciality. After a number of years of that he went back and did his OB GYN residency at Norfolk Naval Hospital Norfolk VA.
He spent the majority of his early medical career in the Navy, stationed in Pensacola, Florida at the Naval Aerospace and Regional Medical Center, where he completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology, and his residency in family practice. Later, he completed his fellowship in laser technology for the treatment of cervical dysplasia and vulvodynia at the Reid Institute.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics & gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
Professionally, he is an active member of the National Vulvodynia Association, the American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, the North American Chapter International Society for the Study of Vulvovagional Disease, the International Pelvic Pain Society, the International Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the International Society for Cosmetic Gynecology, the Cellular Medicine Association, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and the Medical Group Management Association.
While in the Navy, Dr. Fellenbaum held the position of OB/GYN Department Chair. In Flint, he joined the OB/GYN Diagnostic Center before joining Genesys OB/GYN Associates. Just before opening his own practice to better serve the Genesee Community, he was an OB/GYN physician at Women’s Integrated Health in Grand Blanc.
Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).
Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Fellenbaum has been the recipient of the Naval Achievement Medal (1982), Best Clinical Instructor Award at Charleston Naval Hospital (1988), Naval Commendation Medal (1990), Letters of Commendation (1990), and Dr. Stanley C. Marinoff Vulvodynia Career Development Award (2005).
On a more personal note, he was a professional classical singer and is now a popular hip hop artist. He also serves as the Director of the Metropolitan Opera National Auditions, raising money and awareness to not only young adults interested in going further in the art of Classical singing, but also to underprivileged children who may never have been exposed to the art. When he isn’t taking care of his patients, he is at home gardening or teaching the next generation of medical residents.
