Throughout his academic career, he earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Yeshiva University in 1975. He then went on to complete his internship in internal medicine at the same educational venue, followed by his training in dermatology at the Albert Einstein related hospitals, including Montefiore Hospital, Jacobi Hospital, and Lincoln Hospital. In his final year of residency, he was selected to be the chief resident.

An expert in changing the lives of their patients for the better, Dr. Freilich is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, which is one of the 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), a Fellow of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (FASDS), as well as a member of the Dermatologic Society of Greater New York and the American Contact Dermatitis Society.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body. Dermatology is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases, and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.
