Can I have reduced taste sensation during a sinus infection?
Yes this is very typical. Most of your sense of flavor comes from smell. READ MORE
Is it possible to experience nasal blockage after a slight blow to the nose?
Yes it could. Give to about 5 days for the swelling to subside. READ MORE
Are nasal sprays safe for those who smoke?
Not everyone's response to nasal sprays can be predicted, but I would not hesitate to try it due to smoking. The type of nasal spray is also a question, nasal decongestants versus a nasal steroid. READ MORE
What is the hissing sound I am hearing in my ears?
It's called tinnitus. It is technically being produced by the sound receptors in the ear. You need to see an ENT and have a hearing test as well. READ MORE
What are the symptoms of strep throat?
Symptoms don't necessarily differentiate between strep and a viral infection. Sometimes, a whitish coating over the tonsil will be a sign of strep, but a culture is really the only way to tell apart. READ MORE
Why shouldn't I use cotton swabs?
You might be pushing the wax further in. Some people get lucky but you are better having them professionally cleaned. And the problem may not even be wax buildup. READ MORE
Can you get strep throat without tonsils?
It’s rare but yes. And sometimes tonsil tissue remains. READ MORE
Why was I prescribed an antibiotic for an ear infection? Don't I need drops?
It depends on type and location of ear infection. Outer ear infections are treated with drops, middle ear infections are treated with pills. READ MORE
Alzheimer's and loss of smell?
Actually that is very common. So much so that some people use smell loss as an early sign of dementia. Maybe worth looking for a nasal cause, but it's probably connected. READ MORE
Strange taste in mouth after strep throat--is this normal?
Normal. Avoidance purely for subjective means. Probably within 7-10 days after infection. READ MORE
I had a balloon sinuplasty and symptoms are coming back. Do I need it again?
The sinus opening could narrow again or you might have problems not addressed by simple sinuplasty. READ MORE
