Get to know Hospice Physician Dr. Stephanie Carpenter, who serves patients in Prince Frederick, Maryland.

Dr. Carpenter is an adept hospice physician serving as the Medical Director of Calvert Hospice in Prince Frederick, Maryland.

Hospice care at Calvert Hospice is provided by a team of people with different specialties who work together to provide comprehensive and responsive care that benefits both patients and families.They make regular visits to assess the patient and assist with medical, emotional, and spiritual needs. They also develop a care plan that meets each patient’s individual needs for pain management and symptom control.

Pertaining to her educational background, Dr. Carpenter is a 2008 graduate of Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine. 

With a commitment to her speciality, she is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Attributing her success to taking the time to get to know her patients, Dr. Carpenter is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.

A hospice physician is the member of the hospice care team who is responsible for identifying a patient’s need for end-of-life care and making a referral. This team member is also responsible for providing hospice information for families and patients, which includes describing how hospice works.
