Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Stephenson A. Ikpe Jr., who serves patients in Conyers, Georgia.

A well-versed orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Ikpe is in practice with Piedmont Physicians Rockdale Orthopedics. 

Specializing in orthopedics and sports medicine, he has a special interest in knee and shoulder surgery. He treats a range of orthopedic issues from torn ligaments and tendons to arthritis, and offers a wide-variety of surgeries including knee and shoulder arthroscopy, reconstruction, and arthroplasty.

“I really enjoy working with my patients to develop a plan of care. When appropriate, we try to maximize more conservative treatment options such as physical therapy, but incorporate surgery when it is necessary to achieve our goals. Recovering from an injury is a journey, but it is a journey that I take with my patients. We work together in finding ways to keep them informed, motivated and ultimately maximizing the outcomes” stated Dr. Ikpe. 

With more than 10 years of experience in his field, he can be found on staff at Piedmont Newton Hospital and Piedmont Rockdale Hospital.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Ikpe earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 2010. He then attended the University of Virginia Health System where he completed a residency in orthopedics in 2015. He also completed his fellowship training in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine at the University of Pittsburgh in 2016.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

In his spare time, Dr. Ikpe enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, sports, and art. He has a passion for any and all things related to music.
