I am having a lot of foot pain because of my weight. What should I do?
First, since you have a weight problem, have you checked your blood sugar? Just ruling out diabetic neuropathy. If this can be ruled out, then you should consider shoe orthotics and possible heel lift. Unfortunately, with weight issues (and no medical history or actual weight info) this is the simplest answer. I would need much more medical history to offer more detailed suggestions that are many: based on overall health profile, I would start with a full physical exam. If it is just a foot problem, chiropractic adjustments could also help. READ MORE

How does spinal manipulation work?
This is a tricky question as Chiropractors use the term adjustment whereas Osteopaths use the term manipulation. But to answer your question, It is the creation of mobility within any joint connection utilizing various forms of thrust usually at a minimal intensity releasing the fixation of subluxation of that joint. There are many different techniques within the profession that can be offered and the decision is based on the information based from a physical examination which may also include x-rays, MRI or CT scan. There a several reasons for this type of problem: 1) foot pronation and a need for orthotics 2) chronic shin splints, easily corrected by stripping along the tibialis anterior muscle or posterior. How is a chiropractor different from a physical therapist?
Very different. Chiropractic deals with the nerves of the body in association to the spine. It also deals specifically to the bio-mechanics of the whole body in regard to motion. If a joint doesn't move or is fixated, all the exercise you can have will not help that joint. So for a quick explanation Chiropractic restores joint motion and its effect on the surrounding nerve tissue. PT deals with stretching and some rehab exercise in a generic definition. They can also do various adjunctive therapies such as ultrasound and electric stimulation which Chiropractors also do. This would be the one similarity they have. READ MORE
